When it comes to finding the perfect escape, Ibiza isn't just about the legendary nightlife and electronic beats anymore. Nestled on the shores of this beautiful Mediterranean island is a boutique hotel that promises to transport you to a different era – The Mongibello Ibiza Hotel. Opened this July, this charming hotel is a blend of 1950s Italian seaside nostalgia, complete with blue and white stripe decor, old-fashioned melodies, and a tantalizing Italian menu at the aperitivo bar. Join me as I share my recent experience at this time-traveling gem.
As I stepped into The Mongibello Ibiza Hotel, I couldn't help but feel like I had stepped back in time to the 1950s. The lobby's blue and white stripe decor immediately set the tone, evoking the timeless charm of Italian seaside towns. From the vintage red Cadillac parked out front, to the carefully curated art pieces and Italian travel Tashen books, every detail transports you to a simpler, more elegant time.
There’s also something very refreshing about listening to old classic singers like Dean Martin around the pool, rather than house music which every other hotel in Ibiza offers us whilst sunbathing. The pool area is the highlight of Mongibello Hotel, theres plenty of sun beds available surrounding either the large pool or beach chairs facing the Balearic sea.
As mentioned above, the pool area truly is the highlight of Mongibello Ibiza, the rooms, however, unfortunately were not. The hotel is so carefully decorated with attention to detail that sadly isnt lentghened to the rooms. Whilst the overall aesthetic, alike the property, are delightful, the lighting is dim, the rooms are small and lack storage; making Mongibello the ideal hotel for weekend stays, and perhaps not over packers like myself who stay for over a week.
Lets talk about the location. Situated in Santa Eulalia, the perfect hub for families and those looking for a more relaxed vacation. A mere 5-minute stroll away lies the marina, housing a delightful selection of tapas bars, romantic Italian restaurants, and charming bohemian boutiques.
Although we dinned out most evenings, the apertivo bar was a delightful treat during the day. From creamy burrata salad and homemade pizzas to expertly crafted cocktails. Be sure to indulge in a watermelon margarita!
