When we decided to visit the enchanting Lake Como, one name consistently stood out among the myriad of options: the renowned Grand Hotel Tremezzo. We wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and what we discovered was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped from the elevator onto the grand salon, it was apparent that this hotel was something truly special.
Following check in, we decided to spend the afternoon in the spa, which I’m sure many of our readers have seen so much about on TikTok. A truly unique experience; with its stunning lake views, it was a serene oasis where we could unwind and rejuvenate. Homing a lengthy heated pool, sauna & steam. A few hours without phones & some quiet us time, leaft us feeling pampered and refreshed, ready for the evening ahead.
I often gauge a hotel's quality based on the amenities offered in the room, and Grand Hotel Tremezzo (GHT) exceeded my expectations. The bathroom is stocked with exclusive Aqua Di Como toiletries, even including a refreshing Eau du parfum. The beds are exceptionally comfortable, with a cozy adjacent salon area, and the balcony offers breathtaking views of Lake Como. One of the delightful surprises is that each room comes with GHT and Lake Como postcards, a charming detail that I truly appreciated.
Our night at Grand Hotel Tremezzo was a special affair, like something out of a old Hollywood film. We dressed up for dinner in formal attire, drank a few (too many) glasses of champagne and then headed down to the ground floor where we were treated to an unforgettable culinary experience in L’Escale. This is the GHT wine bar & traditional Italian dining area in the hotel, dishes are served in the surroundings of a renovated wine cellar boasting over 1,300 of the finest Italian labels from floor to ceiling . The cacio e pepe and tiramisu, prepared right at our table, were a delightful touch. And the wine pairings elevated our meal to a whole new level. After dinner, we descended into the T-Bar. Sipping martinis, swaying to the soft jazz melodies, and enjoying the opulent decor which made us feel like we had traveled back in time.
After waking the next day I was grateful to enjoy my morning coffe on the balcony. Greeted by the the crisp waters of Lake Como & watching the staff get the pool ready for a busy day ahead, setting up those recognizable orange and white sunbeds. A perfect Sunday morning routine. Breakfast at GHT was of course, an absolute delight, and the view of Lake Como made it even more special. Despite the buffet-style offerings, the staff graciously served everything for you, adding to the overall sense of luxury where you didn't need to lift a finger. There were generous spreads of cold cuts, Italian pastries, and eggs prepared to perfection, ranging from soft to hard-boiled. If you know me, you'll know I will always judge a hotel by their eggs Benedict, and let me tell you, they were nothing short of incredible.
Our Sunday timetable was to explore the nearby town of Bellagio, which was just a short ferry ride from the port just outside the hotel.Its narrow streets, vibrant shops, and beautiful waterfront made for a perfect day trip. On that note, be sure to check your ferry times, and we recommend buying tickets online so you skip the queues.
