A Hidden Gem Hotel - Regents Park, London

When I booked this hotel, I didn’t think too much of it, good location, clean and modern perfect for my busy weekend of meetings in London. So I was delightfully surprised by this 4 star hotel…

The Melia White House Hotel is located on Great Portland Street at Regents Park and prices start at around £200 a night.

I stayed in a Level Premium Room. Alike many destination hotels, Melia has a VIP room category which included larger rooms, a lounge * and private check in. Having this feature is not typical for a London hotel so it was great to see the added touches for The Level guests.

My room was called a Wellness Room, this included features such as a shower with a mineral head, a sunrise alarm clock, soft dressing gowns, a nature sound system which was great at putting me to sleep and a QR code that gave different meditation options. For those who know me know that I am dedicated to my morning meditation and journaling so this was the perfect room for me, and first time I have seen a 4* hotel do anything like this!

As I mentioned above, with Level rooms you get your own reception and lounge area. Upon arrival I was greeted with a glass of Prosecco and from then on, drinks were handed to me like they were going out of fashion! The Melia Level Lounge is the perfect place for a chat with friends, date-night or a wind down after a long day in London (like myself). Pictures below do not do the lounge justice, any type of alcoholic beverage you want, you got it, a plate of tapas (to go with the Melia Spanish theme), olives, bread, enough to not need dinner!

Although I wanted to go into Bar 35, which has a lovely British menu, I had soaked up too much bread and red wine to be able to properly enjoy… maybe next time! But I did manage to have a nose round the bar, it looks like a restaurant out of Mayfair, red leather chairs, dimmed lighting, extensive gin list.. I would pop in here for a drink even if I wasnt staying the night.

I had a quick breakfast on Sunday morning, wishing I had gone every morning because it was delicious! The breakfast had a great variety of hot buffet, continental and you could also order a la cart which was also included in the package. As always, I opted for a eggs royale. Whilst eating, I did notice a champagne bar at breakfast, and if it wasn’t for my sore head from the open bar the night before, it would have gone perfect with my soft poached eggs and salmon!

Overall, this is one of the best 4* hotels I have stayed in, they really go the extra mile for guests. The only thing that I found needs fixing is the lifts, the have a slightly unusual lift process which seemed to make it take 10 minutes for me to get to the 8th floors. But if thats the only criticism I have, then its a great hotel indeed!
